Former British Consulate at Takao/Novi Maulina

How to go there : By bus or train

Recommendation:
The Former British Consulate at Takao is located on hilltop with Sizihwan Beach Landscape underneath. It’s about 15 minutes riding a bike from Sizihwan MRT Station (Orange 1). You can rent a bike for touring Sizihwan district (since it has such beautiful places to go). You can also reach this place by bus (No. 31, 50, 99 or 248) to National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) station. Once arrive, you need to go to NSYSU main gate and you can easily find this such beautiful place. You need to take the stairs to get the hilltop. There are two ways in order to get there, either across Sizihwan Bay or from the backside of the hill (near Gushan Ferry Pier Bridge). I prefer to use backside road since it’s more quiet and shady. This place is well-known as the Second Class Historic Site by Taiwan Government, that’s why every single day there’s so many tourists come (dominated by tourist from Mainland China). Do not forget to take a picture from the outside of this red-bricked archways building, symbolized British Colonial architecture. From there we will be attracted by the spectacular view from hilltop, which faces Sizihwan Bay from the front and Kaohsiung City Port from the other side (you must see sunset moment as well!). You can enjoy these views while having some meal and coffee too. Inside the building, there are a hall which is designated to exhibit historical document photographs and some ancient stuff. In addition, some valuable information will tell us about this building history, world trade history and so on. Be there and feel the experience.
